Matthew – Book Tour and Giveaway

Matt is grumpy, Phoebe is sunshine. AND the sister of his teammate –
are they a match made in heaven or hell?

Matthew
A Los Angeles Quakes Hockey Series
by Alisa Jean
Genre: Sports Hockey Romance

Matthew Holt uses his anger on the ice, gaining him the title of enforcer for L.A. Quakes and high minutes in the sin bin. But hooking up with a teammate’s little sister may earn him the highest penalty of all.
Ever since pee wee hockey, I’ve only known one way to play the sport I love – one hundred percent all in. My focus has always been protecting my teammates, so when the only team I’ve ever played for betrays me, trading me to a team thousands of miles from the family that needs me, who can blame me for taking angry and bitter to a whole new level.
Then Phoebe Anderson, the younger sister of my new teammate, literally falls into my arms and suddenly my life takes another, weird turn. Because believe it or not, my late sister voices her approval of the adorable klutz and refuses to be denied. Or am I going nuts? Either way, will our siblings prove to be too big of an obstacle to overcome? Or am I ready to let go of my anger and do whatever it takes to earn Phoebe’s love?

Early readers are giving it rave reviews!
“There is tension and chemistry that jumps off the pages, not just between potential love interests, but the team as a whole. This story is a definite attention grabber, so much I couldn’t put it down. It has a gripping and incredible storyline, making you want to read it again. If I could, I’d give it 5 plus stars. “
“Loved this book great read.”
“I enjoyed how there is more to him that no one knew. He definitely was an enforcer on the ice but deep down he was a big softy. And Phoebe is a girl who can’t stay on her feet literally…Definitely worth the wait. Can’t wait to read book 4.”

On my way back outside, I spot Matt playing a solo game of darts. “Hey, isn’t that more fun when there are two people?” I tease, sauntering over to his side.
“That could be said of many things,” he flirts back with a crooked grin, poised to throw the next dart. “But I’m a sore winner, so nobody likes to play me.”
“You mean a sore loser?” I pluck the dart from his hand, assume the stance I’ve seen other people do, and throw it at the board. The dart goes sideways and clunks into the wall a foot away from the board. I can’t help the giggle that escapes as he makes a weird sound in the back of his throat that might be a laugh or a frustrated growl, I’m not sure.
“No, I mean a sore winner. I’m an unbearable cocky asshole.” Then he puts a dart in my hand, keeping his own wrapped around mine softly to guide my fingers. “First, hold the dart lightly. You don’t want to screw its balance.” No one is more surprised than me when Matt steps behind me and guides my feet by trapping my legs inside his hard, muscular thighs, and turns me so I’m sideways to the dartboard. It’s a little intrusive, but I’m not kicking up a fuss. Those abs that looked delicious feel even better brushing against my back. Not wearing my normal three-inch heels, I’m feeling petite next to his large frame. Plus, he smells delicious. The man’s soap or shampoo has a fresh cedar or sandalwood scent that makes me want to inhale even deeper.
“I prefer a closed stance but be careful not to put too much weight on the front of your feet, or you’ll tip out of balance.” This is the first major body contact I’ve had in months and my lady parts zing as he wraps his other arm around me to hold me in place. His hand leaves the one I’m holding the dart with to guide my elbow up to shoulder level. “The most important thing before you throw is to relax. Fuck, you’re stiff as a board.” He presses even closer, and I can feel his heat and hardness.
“Not helping,” I murmur. His chuckle makes me melt into him.
“There, that’s better.” His lips lightly brush my ear as he stoops to instruct me how to draw my arm back and release. “Release it like you’re throwing a paper airplane, but don’t
drop your elbow.” He keeps a gentle but firm hand under my elbow. The one at my waist inches higher when I lean forward, dangerously climbing toward my breast. So, I lean forward a little more and almost moan when he raises his hand a bit more and presses me more tightly against the front of his body.
“The important thing most people get wrong is you must let go with all your fingers at once, or the dart will wobble. Then follow through, extending your arm all the way out like you’re pointing at the dartboard.” Moving his hand from my elbow to the dart, he wraps his fingers around mine, so I don’t throw it yet as he extends my arm out. The friction between our bodies at that simple move makes me weak at the knees. He tilts his head, and our eyes meet.
“Ready?” I nod, swallowing the leaden knot of emotion in my throat. His focus returns to the dartboard, although I’m pretty sure he’s checking out my boobs from the corner of his eye. The hand around the dart returns to support my elbow, and he breathes “relax,” into my ear. I throw the dart and it hits the target with a soft thunk. It’s not a bullseye or anything, but it’s in a red slot in the middle ring. Heck, it stayed on the board. That’s better than I normally do. I turn around and bounce in Matt’s arms, squealing with delight.
“What the hell are you doing with my sister?” A barked demand sounds from the doorway.

Alisa Jean is the pseudonym for award-winning authors Marla A. White and C J Bahr. They first teamed up over thirty years ago over a bottle of Zima (don’t ask) while polishing their gear for a horse show. They’ve since moved on to better beverages and writing novels. Separately, Marla prefers to murder characters in the usual way, while C J uses paranormal means. The long-time best friends joined together as a writing team through their mutual love of hockey. Wonder twin powers activated! Their hockey romances examine flawed characters with heart, humor, and sexy sizzle.
